Suppliers

It’s important to us to use local suppliers where possible though we'll go further afield if we get great quality.

We use a whole range of suppliers, some of which are listed on this page.

Some help make our breakfast special and so tasty, others help our guests have a special time or have helped create The 25.

Many of these suppliers are local and you can visit them whilst you stay with us and also help support our local businesses.

DJ Miles Tea

Originally set up in 1888 by his grand-father, Derek Miles still tastes the tea every day.

Based in Somerset since 1961, they supply us with our in room beverages including a variety of teas, instant coffees and a heavenly hot chocolate.

Tours of the coffee roasting process are available if you are heading that way home.  Alternately, you can purchase a gift box of teabags from us to take home with you.

Our local butcher is only round the corner, less than a five minute walk.

Providing us with all our fresh meat, John’s handmade sausages are made with locally farmed pork to their special recipe.

A small independent business for over twenty years, they offer a whole host of homemade and local produce.

Why not pop in there on your way home and take a taste of Devon back with you?

Eggs on Legs

As poached eggs are notoriously difficult to get right. having such fresh eggs definitely helps.  They are usually delivered within 48 hours of being laid.

Devonia Water

Neil supplies our water from a source less than an hour from us and they are the only mineral water supplier in the UK to wash, sterilise and reuse its bottles, meaning they've won awards for their environmental credentials as pictured.

It costs three times as much to recycle a glass bottle, not including the energy to transport it to a recycling plant.

Terry Manning

Terry Manning Upholstery are based in Paignton ten minutes away and have made curtains for us.

We've had various suppliers of curtains, fabrics and soft furnishings but having them made locally is preferable.

They are a family run business and as they're so local they're able to drop samples off to the door.

West Country Baskets

Paul and Hazel create stunning baskets for us every year which make a real statement throughout the whole Summer and right into Autumn - so much so that the majority of our B&B neighbours now use them too!

Like us, they've won numerous awards.

All the plants they use are grown locally by them and chosen to flourish in the warmer than average temperatures we are used to on the English Riviera.

Otter Nurseries

Another family run business, it's come a long way since Malcolm and Marilyn  opened their first garden centre in Ottery St Mary in 1964, now having another six sites.

You can visit our local nursery which is only a ten minute drive, and on the way to Totnes.

South West Plumbing

A family run company set up in 1993 by Roger Mawson who initially managed single handed.

Since then the business has grown with nine vans and 14 staff.  We like using a larger company as they have plumbers on hand 24 hours a day in case of emergency and they're based only a mile down the road.

SW Plumbing replaced our whole water system and boiler when we refurbished so you have them to thank for the great showers.

He is used to working with Georgian buildings like ours across Torbay and has built a great reputation over the last fifteen years.

Riviera Embroidery

We chose to work with Jane from Riviera Embroidery as she was based locally in Paignton.  This meant she was able to pop in with samples of the garments we were thinking of putting our logo on and we could try the sizes on before ordering.

Jane even embroidered an apron which Julian wears in the kitchen to show us how our logo would turn out to check we were happy with that too.

She then delivered our items by hand - great service.

West Country Fire

Established in 2005 by Richard Rendle and Simon Mitchell, they now have a team of 18 across the South West.

They have replaced our fire system and we now have state of the art fire detection, along with sounders and the associated fire fighting equipment needed.

We hope we'll never need it, but it's good to have the confidence we do in their abilities and they come back every six months to service and maintain everything.
